The Special Olympics Northern California office is buzzing with prep for the second annual Bay Area Games! “What are Bay Area Games?” You might be asking yourself. Bay Area Games sees special education student-athletes compete in track and field events for all different ability levels. Over 400 students from Contra Costa, San Francisco and San Mateo counties along with student-athletes from the Tri-Valley area are expected to participate in the 2013 Bay Area Games, which will be held April 30 at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Calif. It is truly an inspiring event as some of the student-athletes have never had the chance to compete, be a part of a team or be cheered on by their friends and family — including over 150 non-disabled peers from Acalanes HS. But video can say all this and more, so please enjoy this video about last year’s Bay Area Games!
