Testimonial Tuesday

Today we’re chatting with eighth graders at Los Cerros Middle School! They were awesome enough to share their thoughts on hosting a basketball competition!

“Being involved in Special Olympics events is extremely rewarding and fun. It’s great to be able to see the student-athletes having fun and doing something that makes them happy while also helping them learn new sports and activities.”

-Natalie

“My favorite part of Special Olympics basketball was being able to interact with all of the athletes. They are all always excited to be there and their enthusiasm rubbed off on all of the volunteers. By the end of the day everyone was so happy to be there and we were all smiling.”

-Carsyn

“The thing I like most is seeing how happy all them are when they shoot a basketball or when they’re just smiling.”

-Megan

“Seeing all of the smiles on the student-athletes’ faces was really rewarding and just made me smile. Their enthusiasm for basketball and everything in general is just contagious.”

-Grace

“My favorite part of doing Special Olympics was seeing the smiles on the faces of the players as they ran up and down the court. I also loved the preparation leading up to the game. Making the video was super fun and enlightening. I feel very honored to be a part of Special Olympics.”

-Makerina

“Making the video for spread the word to end the word was my favorite. I really got to see how much the students at my school care about ending the R-word. I loved watching all the athletes laugh, smile, and achieve their best. The smile on their faces made a smile on mine.”

-Brady

“I love that such a simple fact of helping can have such a large impact on someone’s life. The idea of making someone else happy makes each day better than the last.”
