What is the Polar Plunge Cool School Challenge?
Students in elementary school through college – along with their school administrators, teachers and families – sign up for the Polar Plunge! Cool School Plungers need to fundraise $25, and they’ll Plunge into winter-chilled waters at Special Olympics Northern California & Nevada’s annual Polar Plunges! See photos from past Polar Plunges here! Everyone who fundraises $125 in donations receives a Polar Plunge hooded sweatshirt and admittance into the post-Plunge festivities! PLUS – Cool School teams can even earn money for their school or club!
How Exactly Does My School or Club Earn Money While Fundraising for Special Olympics?
Each Cool School Challenge team that raises $2,500 or more have the opportunity to see 15 percent of the money they raised go back to their school. In order to qualify for the donation back, 50 percent of the team must be students, administrators or teachers at that school, and you must contact Special Olympics Northern California & Nevada and send in this form. How Does My Plunging Make a Difference?
All funds raised benefit Special Olympics Northern California & Nevada, which provides free year-round athletic opportunities to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. But Special Olympics is about more than sports. Everyone deserves a chance at a happy and purposeful life. Yet people with intellectual disabilities face doubt, barriers and low expectations. For many, Special Olympics is the only place where they find an opportunity to participate in their communities, develop belief in themselves and feel like champions. Your Plunging makes a direct difference in the lives of 19,960 athletes!
